		<description>As a public librarian I can appreciate that civilians don&#039;t &quot;get&quot; Dewey, however, many don&#039;t get much of anything. The beauty of Dewey is that nobody has to get it, you just have to be able to count to 9! If you can&#039;t do that you probably can&#039;t read anyway (again not shocking). When items are arranged by Dewey, at least the librarian can locate the exact spot on the shelf the item is supposed to occupy. 

It&#039;s going to be interesting the see the results of this experiment. Now, Darien, CT isn&#039;t exactly a typical municipality either, their population is exceptionally wealthy and well educated, so what works here might not elsewhere.</description>

You&#039;re not the only one I&#039;ve heard that from.  I think we have to remember that there is professional-grade subject grouping and consumer-grade subject grouping.  The latter is far more relevant to our users who generally don&#039;t &quot;get&quot; Dewey and shouldn&#039;t be expected to.</description>
