BBQ fun, LibraryThing-style

Many thanks to Tim Spalding of LibraryThing for hosting a two-year/4.5 million record BBQ celebration. I was on vacation in Maine with my family and was pleased to be able to drop in and meet the world-famous LibraryThing crew.

Tim and Abby (the other person in the photo) and their new sysadmin (I forgot his name.. sorry!) work out of a fabulous old house near the Eastern Promenade in Portland Maine–definitely a start-up feel–meaning camaraderie, energy, and a whole lot of passionate dedication.

An interesting group of LibraryThing die-hards attended the BBQ. “The Complete Works of Tacitus” is among the most popular holdings for the group. I really don’t know what that means.

Anyway, congrats go out to Tim and his gang for this milestone & thanks for the food, Tim, even if you did try to poison me. You can’t get rid of me that easily!

By the way, Oreo’s are still the best in my opinion. Double-stuff, at that. Like I mentioned at the BBQ, it’s important to harvest the cream from eight or nine of them to create a “Power Rangers Unite!”-type cream-filled situation. That’s a real cookie, and you’re not a proper geek if you don’t think so.
