[...] Karen Schneider has a curmudgeon’s (her word) post about some pet peeves, including open source, iPods, penny-wise-pound-foolish budgeting, and retrogressive technology policies.John Blyberg writes about library mashups, and different ways of improving the services libraries offer, especially in the digital realm. He makes some great points, notably that copyright issues, and traditional library procedures, can mean we are in danger of promising things that we can’t deliver (libraries can’t be Netflix or Amazon, at least without certain changes to processes). It’s good to see one of the biggest Library 2.0 boosters pointing to the potential problems, and solutions, rather than just saying “wouldn’t it be great if libraries were just like Netflix? Let’s go do it now!”. Populair is a directory of hot links sites (e.g. Metafilter, del.icio.us new posts, StumbleUpon, Digg etc). (via Phil Bradley). [...]
